About IPO Scouter

Read the power level before you apply

IPO Scouter is an independent research site for Indian IPOs. We turn long offer documents, shifting subscription numbers and market chatter into clear, structured reviews, so you can understand an issue before you decide whether it deserves your money.

Why we started

Every week brings new public issues to the NSE and BSE, on both the mainboard and the SME platforms. The information is out there, but it is scattered across hundreds of pages of red herring prospectuses, exchange notices, registrar portals and social media posts of uneven reliability. Many retail investors end up applying on a hunch or a headline grey market premium.

We built IPO Scouter to close that gap. Our goal is simple: put the facts that matter on one clean page, explain what they mean in plain language, and be upfront about what is known, what is estimated and what is opinion.

What we offer

Live & upcoming IPOs

Dates, price bands, lot sizes, issue structure and objects of the issue for open and upcoming mainboard and SME offers.

Allotment status

Step-by-step guidance for checking your allotment on the registrar and exchange websites, plus key timelines.

Listing reviews

Listing price, day-one performance and a look back at how the issue compared with expectations.

Scouter Reading

Our signature score that sums up each issue on a single, easy-to-compare scale.

The Scouter Reading, explained

Every IPO we cover gets a Scouter Reading on a scale of 0 to 10,000. It is our editorial view of the overall strength of an issue, built from factors such as business quality, financial trends, valuation compared with listed peers, the issue structure, promoter background and demand during the subscription window.

BaseLimited strength, higher caution
ChargedSome positives, clear trade-offs
Power UpSolid case with manageable risks
MaxStrongest overall profile

The reading is a starting point for your own research, not a buy or sell call. A high score does not guarantee listing gains, and a low score does not mean an issue will fail.

How we research an IPO

  1. Start with the source. We read the DRHP and RHP for the business model, financials, risk factors, use of proceeds and shareholding.
  2. Check the market data. Subscription figures, listing prices and dates come from stock exchange and registrar disclosures wherever possible.
  3. Add context. We compare valuations with listed peers and look at the sector, the size of the issue and the share of offer for sale.
  4. Give a clear view. We summarise strengths and concerns, then assign a Scouter Reading and explain the reasoning behind it.
  5. Keep it current. Pages are updated as the issue moves from upcoming to open, allotment and listing.

What we stand for

  • Independence. Our reviews are not paid for by issuers, merchant bankers or promoters, and our opinions are our own.
  • Clarity over hype. We separate verified data from estimates such as GMP, and we say so plainly.
  • Balance. Every review covers the risks, not just the reasons to be excited.
  • Accountability. If we get something wrong, we correct it promptly and keep our pages up to date.
